After our usual morning back-and-forth with the reception about the availability of WiFi, we went to have breakfast. Our trip planning requires us having access to the internet so we take advantage of it whenever we can, since our hotel has none. We sat in a small food joint to use the internet and have breakfast. It was somewhat drizzly and we decided to go to the crazy house before going to see the lake.
The crazy house is designed like a crazy mix between the work of Antonio Gaudi and Lewis Carrol. The building is supposedly nature inspired and has many narrow flights of twisting stairs and bridges, leading in all different directions. There really seem to be more staircases than rooms, and more space devoted to them. It is now a guesthouse that offers rooms one can stay in, each unique. We saw a couple book the highest room there, with a view of the city.
One starts off his journey by what looks like a giraffe (with stairs up its neck), climbs up a bean stalk, walks down a bamboo bridge and rests in the shade of a giant mushroom. It is a very fun house to be in. We even went to see some rooms, as if we were going to stay in them. Each room has a theme, usually around a physical feature of it's design, for example the "bear room" has a statue of a bear in the middle. The small rooms and all the spaces have very organic shapes, irregular windows and beds - none of those boring straight walls to be found here!
There are loads of new buildings under construction as well, and some of the stairways lead to them so we wandered into the construction zones too. One we saw will have a water theme. The architect who owns it seems to never tire of expanding.
After we were done, we went to have lunch in a restaurant not far from the crazy house. We had pork on a hot plate and some corn with rice crackers. Then we continued in the direction of the lake, stopping in shoe stores to find some suitable water sandals for Leia to wear canyoning tomorrow.
