We checked out of our hotel and put our luggage in their storage room.
I tried breakfast at Mane again, and got poisoned, though not nearly as badly as Leia. This time I was more adventurous in trying to order an omelet, and the restaurant just refused to get my order right. It was not close to the description on the menu, and when I pointed out it should have mushrooms, they threw some wet canned mushrooms on it, and picked the tomatoes off my salad leaving the seeds and juice. The pastries were good: we had a croissant and another pastry with berries, though I did have to get up and get my own croissant because our waitress forgot. We had a last leisurely coffee and then whiled away an hour or so at the pool, reading our books.
The hotel booked us a real official taxi because rideshares aren’t allowed at the airport. It was waiting for us at 4, and the bellhop rushed our bags out into the parking lot to get them to the taxi. We tipped her, and paid a 500 peso bill for the taxi, the very last of our cash. At the airport we had to fight with Aeromexico over exorbitant bag fees, which didn’t accomplish much.
Leia was seated in the chair behind me and still throwing up a lot on the plane (did we mention this was a full flight?) Mexico city airport was gross and everything there smelled like poop. Leia threw up again, unsure if it was because of the food poisoning or the general grossness of everything. I had picked a homestay on the wrong side of the airport so we tried to take a bus to the other terminal, got off midway and took a taxi to the homestay.
The person running the homestay was nice and available. We pulled up to the house close to midnight and he let us in, showed us to our room and gave us bottled water. Leia was trying to avoid taking the antiemetic medication for fear of the possible side effect of seizures, but took it anyway to stop vomiting. We took a shower and tried to sleep. There was no air conditioning but a fan we could set up in the corner of the room.
We woke up early and I took another quick shower before ordering a DiDi to take us to the terminal. The road to the terminal was blocked, and the driver took multiple detours. We eventually got to the terminal and checked our bag. This flight was luckily not full and Leia slept for most of it. I moved back and sprawled across an entire exit row, despite a flight attendant yelling at me.
Finally in the afternoon we got our car from long-term parking, and drove home to our cats.
