Thanks to the mall sushi and gyoza, Leia felt quite sick today. All we did was have a little tea in the room, check out of our hotel, and take a red cab they flagged for us to the airport. We had plenty of time to sit in the lounge there, and I bought Leia some bananas for her tum-tum from the nearby restaurant. I had a lot of tiny seaweed rice cakes from the lounge, as well as the sticky rice and beans treats they have there (called khao tom mad.) We got caught up on our blog, and just before boarding we went to the restaurant for a very quick lunch - Leia had nothing but plain steamed rice because she's "not allowed tasty."
On the flight we had ordered a gluten-free meal for Leia and a seafood meal for Guy (just to see what would happen) and we were both very pleased with what we got. I was afraid the flight would be delayed because of "those assholes in the back row with their special dietary preferences."
We forgot to arrange a shuttle from the airport to the hotel in Phuket, so after some time frustratingly spent trying to hear people over the phone, we ended up taking a meter taxi from the airport, for around 900 baht, and getting stuck in traffic so that a trip that should have taken about an hour took closer to two.
Our hotel "Navatara" is in Rawai beach, near the very southernmost tip of Phuket, away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket nightlife. It feels like it is in a tropical jungle, with little salamanders and all manner of insects crawling around the grounds, and the night insects buzzing when we step outside. They greeted us with cups of cold punch and brought us a plate of fruit to our room. We arrived tired even though it was not that late, so we only had dinner in the hotel restaurant, showered, and went to bed. We heard a rainstorm that night.

BTW - I don't remember if it extremely expensive or not, but check out Phuket Fantasea which is a very famous show for tourists. they do not allow cameras inside so don't bother taking it.

Yes, that's what we did!
Phuket Fantasea is about 1800-2100 baht, similar to other attractions we've seen, however... we are pretty far from there in Rawai and wouldn't have had time. We write these posts for each day a whole day later, so we don't always have to stay up so late.
Besides, we are trying to be ecologically conscious tourists (despite flying everywhere) and avoid things like animal circuses for concern about animal welfare. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
